Most tree removal calls come down to one of three reasons. The tree is dead or dying. It is hazardous to a structure or power line. Or it is in the way of construction or a renovation. We handle all three. Small backyard trees up to large specimen oaks and maples. Including the cleanup, hauling, and stump grinding if you want it as a package.
What's included
- On-site assessment with a written quote before any cutting starts
- Roping and rigging on tight properties so nothing hits the house, fence, or garden
- Full debris haul-off to a licensed disposal site
- Stump grinding available as a same-day add-on
- Cleanup of branches, leaves, and sawdust before we leave
Why this matters
An untreated dead tree is an insurance claim waiting to happen. Branches drop in the next windstorm, the trunk fails in the next ice load, and the cost of damage is always more than the cost of removal. Calling early saves you money.

Where we provide tree removal
We offer tree removal across south Ontario. Most of our work is in:
Frequently asked: tree removal
How much does tree removal cost in Ontario? +
Most residential removals land between $400 and $2,500 depending on size, access, and what is underneath. A 30-foot backyard maple with a clean drop-zone is usually $400 to $800. A 60-foot front-yard oak over a house with hydro lines nearby can run $1,800 to $2,500. Price depends on how much we have to rope-down versus drop free, whether a crane is needed, and how much cleanup is involved. We give a written quote on site before any cutting starts.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Ontario? +
Probably, if the trunk is wider than your municipality's threshold. Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, and most south Ontario cities regulate private trees above a certain diameter at breast height (DBH). Last known thresholds: Toronto 30 cm, Burlington 20 cm, Hamilton 30 cm. Dead, hazardous, and certain exempt species can usually be removed without a permit. We check the bylaw for your address before quoting and file the application as part of the job when a permit is required.
How long does a tree removal take? +
A standard backyard removal takes 2 to 5 hours including cleanup. A large or complex job with rope-down rigging, crane work, or tight access can take a full day. We usually schedule one tree per crew per half-day. If the tree is hazardous or storm-damaged, we can be on site the same business day in most cases.
Do you grind the stump too? +
Stump grinding is a same-day add-on if you want it. We grind 6 inches below grade for sod or grass, and 12 or more inches below grade if you plan to plant a new tree in that spot (old root chips can stunt new tree growth). Full stump extraction (digging the entire root ball out) is a separate larger job and we only recommend it when you are pouring concrete, building a patio, or laying a foundation over the spot.
What happens to the wood and brush? +
All debris is hauled to a licensed disposal site as part of the quote. If you want firewood rounds left on site, tell us when we quote and we will cut the trunk into 16-inch rounds and stack them where you ask. We do not haul away wood you want to keep, and we never charge for leaving rounds you requested.
Do you handle trees near power lines? +
For trees touching or within striking distance of primary hydro lines, the utility (Hydro One, Toronto Hydro, Alectra, and so on) handles the cut at no charge to you. We coordinate the line drop with them, then handle the rest of the removal once the wires are secured. Trees on the service drop from the pole to your house are usually our responsibility and we work around the live wire with proper rigging.
